This message requires an email address because Battle.net has to prove it's your account. Since this message must be sent before SID_LOGONRESPONSE, SID_LOGONRESPONSE2, or SID_AUTH_ACCOUNTLOGON, you must supply an e-mail address so Battle.net knows that you may have ownership to it
This packet used to be named SID_AUTH_RECONNECTPROOF, however Blizzard never had it implemented, and so reused the packet ID for their email system. |
